Lucknow, March 21: In the wake of escalating tensions and war-like conditions in the Middle East, Akhilesh Yadav, the national president of the Samajwadi Party, launched a sharp critique of the central government’s foreign policy on Saturday. He emphasized that the socialist ideology has always opposed war and advocates for peace.
Speaking to reporters in Lucknow, Yadav stated, “From day one, I have maintained that members of the Samajwadi Party and those who believe in socialist ideology are never in favor of war. War should never occur. As a nation, India has missed an opportunity to become a global leader. Had India taken a strong stance, we could have avoided war.”
He further remarked that the Indian government’s unclear position in conflicts involving Iran, Israel, and the United States has tarnished the country’s image. Yadav accused members of the BJP of being uninformed, claiming they only wish to spread hatred and exploit every situation for political gain. He noted that the war is adversely affecting the economy, increasing inflation, and demonstrating a complete failure in foreign policy.
The Samajwadi Party leader called for the government to discuss issues such as the safety of Indians trapped in war-torn regions, oil supply, and sovereignty in Parliament. In the context of festivals, Akhilesh Yadav conveyed a message of harmony, stating, “During Holi, we share gujiya with one another. Similarly, on Eid, we greet each other, extend Eid wishes, and celebrate together by sharing seviyan. On Eid, we take a pledge to send the message to the world that we must live in peace, harmony, and happiness.”
Additionally, following the death of ‘Farsa Wale Baba’ (Chandrashekhar Singh) in Mathura, Yadav questioned the Yogi government. He remarked, “Their only slogan is, ‘Hot palm, soft police’.” Yadav held the government responsible for the incident that occurred in Mathura.
