TTV Dhinakaran Clarifies No Plans to Reintegrate VK Sasikala into NDA Ahead of Tamil Nadu Elections

Chennai, March 21: As political activities intensify ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, AMMK General Secretary TTV Dhinakaran made it clear on Saturday that there are no plans to reintegrate VK Sasikala into the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

This statement comes amid growing speculation regarding Sasikala’s potential return to coalition politics.

Earlier this week, Dhinakaran visited the national capital, where he met with Home Minister Amit Shah. He also had discussions with Union Minister and BJP’s Tamil Nadu in-charge Piyush Goyal during his trip.

These meetings are seen as part of broader discussions within the NDA, as parties prepare for the upcoming elections.

Sources indicated that the discussions covered a wide range of electoral issues, including seat-sharing arrangements, constituency preferences, and the possibility of AMMK contesting under its ‘Pressure Cooker’ symbol.

After the meeting, Dhinakaran downplayed the significance of these discussions, stating, “I did not discuss seat-sharing with Amit Shah. We only talked about facing the elections unitedly.”

Reiterating his stance on Sasikala, Dhinakaran emphasized that there is no intention to bring her back into the coalition framework, effectively ruling out any immediate political role for the former AIADMK leader within the NDA.

Targeting the ruling DMK government, Dhinakaran claimed that whenever opposition leaders visit Delhi, the state leadership becomes apprehensive. He also mentioned the financial assistance provided to Tamil Nadu by the central government, noting that approximately ₹12 lakh crore has been allocated to the state over the past 12 years. “We can ensure that Tamil Nadu receives the necessary funds without any difficulties,” he added.

Meanwhile, PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss is expected to meet with Home Minister Shah separately, indicating parallel consultations with key regional leaders. Ramadoss is currently in Delhi.

In a related development, Piyush Goyal’s visit to Chennai has been postponed and is now expected to take place on Sunday. Formal seat-sharing discussions among NDA allies are likely to commence only after these preliminary talks conclude.
