New Delhi, March 21: TTV Dhinakaran, the General Secretary of the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK), met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday. The meeting focused on developing a comprehensive strategy for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to defeat the ruling DMK in the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly elections.
After the meeting, Dhinakaran clarified that the discussions did not revolve around seat-sharing arrangements. Instead, the emphasis was on strengthening coordination among NDA allies across all 234 assembly constituencies in the state. The primary goal was to ensure unity and effective grassroots mobilization to secure victory in the elections.
He noted that Home Minister Shah provided guidance and suggestions regarding the electoral strategy. The main purpose of Dhinakaran’s visit to Delhi was to discuss these strategic aspects.
Dhinakaran also mentioned that discussions on seat-sharing within the alliance are progressing smoothly and are expected to be finalized soon. He anticipates that arrangements will be completed amicably in Chennai within the next two to three days, paving the way for formal announcements.
Reiterating his party’s political stance, Dhinakaran asserted that the NDA would pose a strong challenge against the corrupt DMK government. He expressed confidence that the public supports the alliance and that the NDA will emerge victorious, leading to an AIADMK-led government in Tamil Nadu.
In response to Chief Minister MK Stalin’s criticism regarding the frequent visits of AIADMK leaders to Delhi and their meetings with BJP leadership, Dhinakaran labeled these comments as politically motivated. He stated that there is nothing unusual about such meetings and suggested that the DMK’s remarks stem from pre-election anxieties.
As coalition talks near completion and campaign strategies take shape, the NDA appears to be ramping up its preparations for the Tamil Nadu assembly elections, which are expected to be highly competitive.
