Ajay Rai Challenges CM Yogi Over Fish Feast Allegations

Lucknow, August 24: The President of the Uttar Pradesh Congress, Ajay Rai, has responded to allegations made by BJP and NDA leaders regarding a fish feast he supposedly hosted during the month of Sawan in Ayodhya. Rai issued a warning to BJP leaders while clarifying the situation.

In an interview, Ajay Rai stated, “Ram Nihal Nishad organized a respect program, which I attended after visiting the Ram Temple. I have no knowledge of what Ram Nihal was cooking or serving. The Nishad community traditionally consumes fish. It is customary for them to serve fish at their events. I only attended the program upon invitation.”

During a public meeting in Bareilly, CM Yogi Adityanath claimed that the Congress President visits Hanumangarhi for blessings and then indulges in a fish feast, shouting slogans afterward. He remarked, “There is a limit to shamelessness; even a chameleon would be embarrassed in front of them.”

In response to CM Yogi’s statement, Ajay Rai challenged, “If the Chief Minister can prove his claims, I will resign. If he fails to do so, he should resign instead.”

Rai further asserted, “I am a follower of Sanatan Dharma, which is not superficial. The identity of Sanatan is the sacred thread. These individuals wear saffron and deceive people with lies. I can confidently say that if Pankaj Chaudhary and CM Yogi have any evidence of me eating fish, they should present it. I am ready to resign.”

Congress leader Shakeel Ahmed Khan added, “It seems the BJP is unaware of its own history. We witnessed BJP leaders enjoying non-vegetarian meals during the Bengal elections. They adapt to situations based on what seems right to them. When the state president visited a Nishad family, it is known that the Nishad community consists of fishermen who consume fish and meat, so fish was served. In fact, 70 to 80 percent of people in India eat fish and meat. Even national BJP leaders enjoy these foods, including those from Bihar with whom we interact.”
