Gurugram, December 6 โ€“ In response to the significant difficulties faced by passengers across India, Air India and Air India Express have announced several steps to assist stranded travelers in reaching their destinations.

Since December 4, Air India has implemented a fixed fare cap on economy class tickets for domestic non-stop flights. This measure aims to prevent excessive fare increases driven by the automated revenue management system based on demand and supply. Additionally, both Air India and other airlines are in the process of complying with the new fare rules issued by the Ministry of Civil Aviation on December 6.

Air India and Air India Express have also introduced special concessions on change and cancellation fees for domestic flight bookings to provide greater convenience to passengers. Travelers who booked tickets with any airline for travel until December 15 before December 4 can change their tickets to another date without paying re-scheduling fees. They can also cancel their tickets and receive a full refund without any cancellation charges.

This facility is a one-time offer and applies only to changes or cancellations made by December 8. If passengers reschedule their flights and the new fare is higher, they will be required to pay the difference.

Passengers wishing to use this one-time waiver for booking changes or cancellations can contact any airlineโ€™s 24ร—7 call center or reach out to travel agents worldwide to complete the process.

To handle increased call volumes and provide faster responses, Air India and Air India Express have deployed additional staff and resources at their help centers.

Both airlines are maximizing seat availability across their extensive flight network and ensuring timely arrival of passengers and their baggage at destinations. To support this, extra flights are being operated on certain key routes.

Air India and Air India Express also offer special discounts and benefits on their websites and mobile apps for students, senior citizens, armed forces members, and their dependents. Eligible passengers can book tickets at prices lower than the fixed economy class fare, enabling substantial savings.
