Ahmedabad Crime Branch Recovers Stolen Goods Worth ₹1.50 Crore, Two Held

Ahmedabad Crime Branch has arrested two individuals in connection with a major burglary at Manekbaug Society in the Satellite area of Ahmedabad. Authorities recovered stolen property valued at approximately ₹1.47 crore from the accused, police informed on Friday.

The burglary took place between January 11 and January 16, during the Uttarayan festival, when a doctor’s family had left their home locked and unattended.

The accused took advantage of the family’s absence to break into the house and steal cash and jewellery.

Following the incident, a complaint was filed with the Crime Branch, which launched an intensive investigation.

Several teams were formed to scrutinize over 200 CCTV camera recordings from nearby areas.

Based on technical surveillance, CCTV analysis, and other intelligence inputs, the police identified the suspects.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Kamlesh alias Gugo Parmar from Chandkheda and Mehul Parmar from Shahpur, both originally residents of Banaskantha district.

The Crime Branch stated that Kamlesh is a habitual offender with at least ten cases of house break-ins and theft registered against him in various police stations in Ahmedabad and other locations.

Officials revealed that the accused targeted homes that were locked during the festival season. During the operation, the Crime Branch recovered the entire stolen property and legally seized it.

The recovered items include ₹45 lakh in cash, gold jewellery worth about ₹1.01 crore, silver jewellery valued at around ₹50,000, and diamond jewellery.

The total value of the recovered property is estimated at nearly ₹1.50 crore. Police confirmed that legal proceedings are underway against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The Crime Branch is also investigating whether the two suspects are linked to similar burglary cases reported from other parts of the city.
