Mumbai: Since its release in cinemas on 23 January, ‘Border-2’ has been performing well at the box office. The film features Ahan Shetty, son of Suniel Shetty, in the role of a Navy officer. Ahan recently shared his experiences about shooting the film, comparing it with the original ‘Border’ and discussing the challenges of returning to the set after a four-year gap.
In an exclusive conversation, Ahan Shetty said, “Working with big stars after a long break was a nerve-wracking experience. However, Sunny sir, Varun Dhawan, and Diljit Dosanjh were very supportive on set, which made things much easier. The period following ‘Tadap’ was somewhat difficult, but my family and friends helped me a lot. Because of their support, I never looked back or regretted anything.”
Speaking about the pressure of carrying forward the legacy of ‘Border’ and working with a star-studded cast, Ahan added, “I kept my head down and focused entirely on the work. I wanted everything to be good and perfect, and I worked with full honesty. I followed the instructions of my director completely. To keep myself calm, Varun and I would often go out for dinner after shoots, which helped reduce nervousness.”
Regarding his preparation for the role, he explained, “Portraying a Navy officer was challenging because body language and the responsibilities that come with the character were crucial. It was important to adopt the speaking style and attitude of a Navy officer, who thinks beyond himself for the country and never shows any worry on his face. Bringing that responsibility to life in the character was essential.”
When asked to compare ‘Border’ and ‘Border-2’, Ahan said, “Both films are based on the same war, but the time periods are different. The original was shot by JP sir with live blast scenes, which was very difficult. Today, we used different technology for shooting. The cast and crew are different as well. Comparing the two is pointless because the original is unmatched. No one can replace it. On set, Sunny sir and my father shared many stories about how the original film was made.”
