Mumbai, 3 January. In Hindi cinema, everyone dreams of shining as a hero on screen, but some actors carve their unique identity through supporting roles. Aditya Pancholi is one such actor who, although away from the cinematic limelight today, often revisits memories from his past films on social media.

Aditya will celebrate his 61st birthday on 4 January.

With his tall stature, fair complexion, and charming personality, Aditya began his journey in television and Hindi cinema. His youthful looks helped him play many roles during the 1990s. Though he came to Bollywood with dreams of being a hero, he also portrayed several negative characters. His image in the film industry became that of a ‘bad boy’.

However, it is lesser known that in the early stages of his career, Aditya was not very serious about films and work, as success came to him quite quickly after only a few projects.

Starting his career with the TV show ‘Shahadat,’ Aditya always worked in his own style within the industry, which often led to negative rumours about him. In an interview, he revealed that getting the first break in films is very difficult, but once it comes, things get easier.

He said, “Initially, I wanted a break. After getting work, I used to enjoy myself and work my way on set. I was not two-faced like others in the industry. When work started coming, I did not put my heart fully into the early films. I thought I was getting work and good money—what more could I want? Fun was a must.”

He further explained that with time, he realized the importance of work. The greatest fun is work itself, and that is the life of any actor.

In the 1990s, Aditya was a hot topic in magazines, mostly surrounded by negative news. Although these did not affect him personally, they did impact his career. To tackle this issue, Aditya, along with some other stars, formed a committee at that time.

It is worth noting that Aditya shared screen space with many big stars such as Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, and Amrish Puri. He debuted with the 1986 film ‘Sasti Dulhan Mahanga Dulha,’ but gained real recognition with movies like ‘Sailaab’ (1990), ‘Saathi’ (1991), ‘Tehelka’ (1992), ‘Aatish’ (1994), and ‘Yes Boss’ (1997).
