Ahmedabad, July 2: Karan Adani, Managing Director of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ), stated on Thursday that Odisha is the center of economic development for the Adani Group in Eastern India.
His remarks came during the announcement of a significant investment of $11.5 billion (approximately ₹1.08 lakh crore) by the Adani Group and International Holding Company (IHC) for a new aluminum plant in Odisha.
Addressing the audience, Karan Adani highlighted that the Chairman of the Adani Group, Gautam Adani, sees not only resources but also strength in Odisha.
He emphasized that Odisha has the potential to lead the next wave of industrial development in India, and this project marks a significant step in that direction.
Karan Adani described Odisha as a unique place where ancient heritage meets modern aspirations.
He stated, “Odisha is rich in mineral resources and plays a crucial role in strengthening the country’s industrial backbone. The state holds the largest reserves of bauxite, over 50% of India’s iron ore reserves, and substantial coal reserves, which aid in power and industrial development.”
He added, “Under the effective leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Chara Majhi, and with strong policy support, Odisha is transforming from a raw material supplier to a ‘value-added manufacturing hub.’”
Karan Adani further expressed, “It is a privilege to be in this great land of enterprise, courage, culture, and immense possibilities.”
He reiterated that such projects lay the foundation for a vision that requires a developed Odisha for a prosperous India by 2036—an Odisha that adds value to its minerals, creates a world-class manufacturing ecosystem, and generates employment for its youth.
He concluded by stating that the goal of this project is to create opportunities for your children, strengthen your local economy, support your entrepreneurs, and elevate Odisha on the global stage.
