Akali Leader Criticizes Punjab Government Over Parvinder Singh Jhotta Murder Case
Bikram Singh Majithia criticizes Punjab government regarding the murder of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhotta, raising serious questions.

Chandigarh, October 20 (Daily Kiran) : Bikram Singh Majithia, a leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal, has sharply criticized the Punjab government in light of the murder case of Parvinder Singh Jhotta. He took to the social media platform X to voice his concerns and raise questions about the circumstances surrounding the case.
In his post, Majithia alleged that Dr. Nirmal Oseppachan, while serving as the Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) in Mansa, issued a weapon license to Ashwini Kumar. He questioned why this official was later appointed as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Chief Secretary. “Did the OSD of Chief Secretary K.A.P. Sinha issue a weapon license to the murderer of martyr Parvinder Jhotta?” Majithia asked, highlighting the connections between the officials involved.
The investigation into Jhotta’s murder has been handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) by the Punjab government. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced this decision via a post on social media, stating, “We stand firmly with the family of Parvinder Singh Jhotta, who fought against drugs. In respect of the family’s demand, we are transferring the case to the CBI.”
Reiterating the government’s commitment to combat drug issues in Punjab, Mann emphasized that the fight against drug traffickers would continue with unwavering determination. He remarked, “Our battle against drug traffickers is decisive. We will not shy away from taking any necessary stringent measures to make Punjab drug-free.”
As concerns over drug trafficking and associated violence rise, Union Home Minister Shah is currently visiting Punjab. The death of anti-drug activist Jhotta in Mansa has intensified the urgency of addressing this critical issue.
