Gandhinagar, October 7 (Daily Kiran) : The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board has launched a state-level initiative called the ‘Parakh Cell’ aimed at shifting school assessments towards competency-based education. This new service will allow students to access their Class 10 and 12 mark sheets directly through the DigiLocker platform after exam results are announced.
Education Minister Pradyuman Singh Jadeja inaugurated the Parakh Cell at the Gujarat Board headquarters in Gandhinagar. This initiative is part of the state’s implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which is designed to enhance the educational framework across the country.
Jadeja emphasized that the NEP is transforming the educational landscape in India. He stated that Gujarat is committed to providing quality education through a transparent assessment system. The launch of the Parakh Cell will enable students to move away from rote learning and embrace a more skill-oriented approach.
Under the new DigiLocker service, students who take the Class 10 and 12 exams will receive their digital mark sheets as soon as the results are declared. Since 2021, approximately one crore mark sheets of students who appeared for exams between 2021 and 2026 have already been uploaded to DigiLocker. Students can easily download their digital mark sheets using the DigiLocker app.
This facility is expected to streamline the verification of educational documents for higher education and employment opportunities both in India and abroad. Jadeja noted that integrating technology into education will further strengthen the state’s educational system.
He also congratulated the education department and the Gujarat Board team for their coordinated efforts in implementing this process. The Parakh Cell will operate under the framework established by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) as a national evaluation center. This state-level cell will develop a competency-based question bank and assessment tools to facilitate the implementation of holistic progress cards tailored to Gujarat’s language and curriculum needs.
