Hyderabad, April 18: Abhishek Sharma has made history as the fastest batsman to score a half-century for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). During a match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Saturday, he achieved this milestone in just 15 balls.
In this match, Sharma scored 59 runs off 22 balls, hitting 4 sixes and 6 fours. He formed a significant partnership of 75 runs with Travis Head in just 5.5 overs.
This half-century marks the quickest of Sharma’s IPL career. Previously, he held the record for the fastest IPL half-century for SRH, having scored one in 16 balls against Mumbai Indians in 2024. Alongside him, Travis Head also reached 50 runs in 16 balls against Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2024.
During the match against CSK, Sharma hit boundaries on 7 consecutive balls. He struck two fours in the last two balls of the fourth over and followed it up with 3 sixes and 6 fours in the last five balls of the fifth over.
