Abhijit Dipke Challenges Delhi Polices Claims Amid Family Tragedy

New Delhi, October 11 (Daily Kiran) : Abhijit Dipke, a prominent activist, has raised serious concerns regarding the Delhi Police’s actions following the death of his grandmother. On October 10, ahead of a demonstration organized by the Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP), Dipke and his associates were taken into custody. The incident has sparked a heated exchange of accusations between Dipke and the police.

CJP alleges that despite the passing of Dipke’s grandmother, he was not allowed to communicate with his family. In response, the Delhi Police released a video stating they had offered him the chance to speak with his parents, which he reportedly declined. Dipke has since questioned the authenticity of this claim.

In a post on social media platform X, Dipke expressed his frustration, asking why the police edited out the part of the video where he requested his phone to obtain his cousin’s number and to contact his lawyers. He criticized the police for pretending to show compassion while they pressured him to sign arrest documents at 3:30 AM.

Dipke pointed out the lack of humanity in the police’s actions, especially given the circumstances of his grandmother’s death. He stated that he refused to sign anything until he was granted permission to speak with his legal counsel.

During a media interaction in Delhi, Dipke recounted that the police informed him of his grandmother’s death. He asked for his phone to contact his cousin but was told to provide a number instead. Unable to recall it, he insisted on using his phone, but the police denied him access.

He emphasized his right to communicate with his lawyer and family, which was not respected. Dipke highlighted that the police’s request for him to inform his parents about his arrest at such an hour was unreasonable, especially considering their health issues and the recent family tragedy. He condemned the police’s behavior as lacking compassion and vowed to continue his activism.
