AAP Demands Expulsion of Seven MPs from Rajya Sabha Amid Political Tensions

New Delhi, April 25: The political clash between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified once again. AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh announced that the party will write to the Rajya Sabha Chairman, demanding the expulsion of seven MPs who recently declared their joining of the BJP.

Sanjay Singh stated that the inclusion of these MPs into the BJP is entirely unconstitutional, illegal, and against parliamentary rules. He emphasized that any form of defection, regardless of being based on a two-thirds majority, is not considered valid under the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution (Anti-Defection Law).

He further mentioned that he will reference all relevant rules and legal provisions in his letter to the Rajya Sabha Chairman, aiming to annul the memberships of the seven MPs who have joined the BJP. Singh accused this move of being against democratic values and stated that it cannot be accepted under any circumstances.

Additionally, AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj launched a sharp attack on the BJP regarding this issue. He asserted that the party is built on the strength of ordinary workers, and the departure of a few leaders will not make a difference. He alleged that the central government is misusing various agencies to weaken opposition parties.

Bhardwaj noted that many leaders are leaving the party under pressure, but the grassroots workers remain steadfast. He urged the workers to maintain their morale and continue questioning the government.

Targeting the BJP, he claimed that the government is employing a strategy to break the opposition to avoid criticism. He accused that those leaders who are previously subjected to investigations by agencies are later declared ‘clean’ upon joining the BJP.
