Mumbai, September 18 (Daily Kiran) : Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, announced on Friday that 68 Japanese companies will participate in Semicon India 2026. These firms are finalizing their manufacturing and research plans in India.
During a tour of the Japanese pavilion at the event, Vaishnaw highlighted that over 30 countries are participating. He noted, “We are currently at the Japanese pavilion, where 68 companies are working on their manufacturing and research plans along with potential partners in India.”
Vaishnaw expressed enthusiasm about the energy among the youth surrounding the event, emphasizing that it is creating numerous high-skilled job opportunities for young people across the country.
He also praised a semiconductor chip developed by students from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela in Odisha. This chip was created under India’s semiconductor mission’s talent development program. The students presented their work impressively to the Prime Minister.
Additionally, Vaishnaw showcased the semiconductor chip to the media, highlighting its significance. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Chara Majhi expressed pride in seeing indigenous chip designs from NIT Rourkela featured among ‘Made-in-India’ semiconductor chips at the event. He remarked that this is a proud moment for every Odia, showcasing the talent, innovation, and research capabilities of local institutions.
Majhi further acknowledged that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership and Ashwini Vaishnaw’s dedicated efforts, India is steadily advancing towards a robust and self-reliant semiconductor ecosystem. He congratulated the scientists, researchers, and the entire NIT Rourkela team, expressing pride in Odisha’s contributions to India’s semiconductor journey and technological self-sufficiency.
