Jaipur, 21 November (Daily Kiran): Hindustan Zinc Limited, one of the world’s largest integrated zinc producers and among the top five global silver producers, in collaboration with the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation Limited (RIICO), held a high-level stakeholder consultation workshop in Jaipur to advance the proposal for the world’s first dedicated Zinc Park.

The Zinc Park aims to establish a new industrial ecosystem focused on innovation, manufacturing and value addition in the zinc, lead, silver and associated metal value chain. The consultation brought together policymakers, industrial leaders, MSME technology partners and potential investors to shape the park’s infrastructure blueprint, policy framework and sector priorities.

Senior leadership from Hindustan Zinc and RIICO presented an integrated plan showcasing the proposed industrial layout, utilities, renewable-energy integration, logistics connectivity and facilitation mechanisms designed to support manufacturing and research-driven enterprises.

Investors engaged in interactive sessions to share requirements related to raw material access, land and utility needs, technology support, regulatory processes and downstream expansion opportunities. Based on this feedback, RIICO will further customise the park’s development plan to meet investor-specific needs.

The Zinc Park was first announced by Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma along with Vedanta Group Chairman Anil Agarwal during the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit in December 2024. It is planned to be set up near Hindustan Zinc’s world-class mining and smelting operations in Chanderiya, Dariba and Debari.

The proposed cluster will offer industrial land supported by RIICO, competitive operating costs, a renewable-energy-based power ecosystem and strong logistics connectivity. With a dedicated allocation of metal output from Hindustan Zinc for industries within the park, companies will benefit from assured supply, shorter value chains and a reduced carbon footprint. Access to the company’s Centre of Excellence and R&D platform is expected to support product development, alloy innovation and technology partnerships.

RIICO Executive Director Akash Tomar said the organisation is actively evaluating the development of Zinc Park as a hub for metal processing aligned with the existing zinc smelter ecosystem in the state.

Arun Misra, CEO of Hindustan Zinc Limited, said:
“Zinc Park is more than an industrial cluster. It is a long-term commitment to building India’s capabilities in energy transition metals, critical minerals and clean-energy manufacturing. By bringing together industry, government and technology partners, we are creating an ecosystem where companies can innovate, scale and compete globally.”

As India strengthens its critical mineral capabilities and accelerates its manufacturing ambitions, Zinc Park is expected to boost sectors including galvanising, die-casting, alloy manufacturing, renewable-energy hardware, automotive components, defence materials and advanced materials. The initiative is projected to generate large-scale employment, enhance MSME competitiveness, attract global and domestic manufacturers and position Rajasthan as a key hub in the global metals and materials landscape.

Through this initiative, Hindustan Zinc aims to extend its legacy beyond metal production to enabling new industries, technologies and value chains for the nation.
