Zelensky Urges Increased Production of Anti-Ballistic Missiles in the U.S.

Kiev, June 1: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed concerns regarding the insufficient production of anti-ballistic missiles in the United States.

In a post on social media platform ‘X’ on Sunday, Zelensky stated, “The production of anti-ballistic missiles in the U.S. is inadequate and could lead to crises in various parts of the world. Meanwhile, Russia is continuously ramping up its domestic production of ballistic missiles.”

He mentioned that he has also sent a letter regarding this matter to the White House and the U.S. Congress.

Zelensky emphasized, “Given the current challenges, producing 60-65 anti-ballistic missiles each month is far too low. This is no secret, and Russia is aware of it. We need to increase production. I have previously requested this from the former U.S. administration, and I am now urging the current administration to grant a license for the production of Patriot missiles for Ukraine.”

He added, “We can ramp up the production of Patriot missiles. This will aid us and also benefit the Middle East and other countries that the U.S. decides to assist. Until we develop our own anti-ballistic system in Europe, we will continue to need support from the U.S.”

Sharing insights from an interview, Zelensky noted that Ukraine is striving to intercept all Russian drones, even those heading towards Romania, Moldova, Poland, or the Baltic states.

He stated, “I believe we should find a diplomatic solution before the next winter. We need to engage in dialogue. However, this will also depend on the pressure Putin faces from his own society and how effectively the U.S. and Europe impose sanctions on Russia.”

Zelensky remarked that since December 2025, Russia has begun to lose its advantage on the battlefield. He raised questions about who would represent Europe in potential negotiations.

He mentioned, “There is a format called E3, which includes the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. I am not sure if this is the best format, but I believe these countries can play a role as negotiators on behalf of Europe. We also have reliable Nordic partners. Turkey has always been willing to mediate, and its assistance in bringing back prisoners of war has led to some successes.”
