Meerut, September 21 (Daily Kiran) : Pankaj Chaudhary, the state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, called on the youth of India to direct their energy towards national development during a youth dialogue event held at Subharti University in Meerut. He emphasized that the youth represent the country’s greatest strength and, with determination, can propel India to become a developed nation by 2047.
While addressing the audience, Chaudhary paid tribute to Meerut’s revolutionary history, recalling the first war of independence in 1857 and the contributions of local heroes like Kotwal Dhan Singh Gurjar and Rao Kadam Singh. He remarked that Meerut has long been a symbol of courage and patriotism in India’s history. The youth dialogue, he said, is a crucial opportunity to shape the current and future golden era of India.
With over 65% of its population under the age of 35, India stands as the youngest nation in the world. This demographic is not just a statistic; it is the country’s most significant asset. Chaudhary pointed out that this youthful vigor has helped India gain a new global identity. He referenced Swami Vivekananda’s belief that a hundred energetic and dedicated young individuals could change the nation’s destiny. Today, India boasts millions of such youths, particularly in sectors like fintech, space, and defense, where startups are establishing the country’s new global image.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the landscape of both the nation and the state is evolving. India has emerged as the world’s third-largest startup ecosystem, with young innovators from smaller towns creating unicorn companies with fresh ideas and technologies. Chaudhary noted the central government’s elimination of the angel tax on startups as a significant boost.
The Uttar Pradesh Startup Policy 2026 aims to transform youth ideas into businesses, focusing on future technologies such as AI, drones, and robotics. This initiative is expected to energize the state’s ecosystem of over 24,000 startups. He highlighted the achievements of young Indian scientists and engineers in space missions like Mangalyaan, Gaganyaan, Chandrayaan, and Aditya-L1, which have brought pride to the nation.
The central government is adopting a “4S” approach—Skill, Scale, Speed, and Scope—to empower youth. Initiatives like Skill India are connecting young talent with employment opportunities. Chaudhary also announced the establishment of Uttar Pradesh’s first Major Dhyan Chand Sports University in Sardhana, built at a cost of ₹250 crores, which began its first session in June 2026.
Criticizing the previous Samajwadi Party government, he stated that in the past, youths were often handed sticks and firearms, whereas the current government is providing opportunities for advancement. He noted that law and order have improved significantly, leading to increased investments from entrepreneurs worldwide, thereby creating new job opportunities for the youth. Uttar Pradesh is now recognized as a hub for expressways, with 55% of the country’s expressways located in the state.
Chaudhary concluded his address by urging the youth of Meerut to take three pledges: to prioritize the nation, to pursue discipline and consistency in their efforts, and to focus on their goals while promoting brotherhood, cleanliness, and positive change in society.
