Dilip Ghosh Questions Opposition Claims Against Election Commission

West Bengal Minister Dilip Ghosh challenges opposition accusations against the Election Commission, citing lack of evidence.

Kolkata, September 24 (Daily Kiran) : West Bengal Minister Dilip Ghosh recently raised doubts about the evidence behind opposition claims that two election commissioners objected to decisions made by the Election Commission 14 times over a span of ten months.

The Election Commission has asserted that all decisions, including those related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists, were made unanimously by all three commissioners.

Speaking to reporters, Ghosh stated, “The SIR issue was also raised in court, and individuals approached the judiciary, but no obstacles were found. There is no evidence to suggest that any citizen’s name was unlawfully removed. If it had happened, showing the documents would restore their names.”

Addressing the ongoing allegations from the opposition, he remarked, “Today, the opposition has nothing to offer. Who will listen to those who cannot even field candidates in by-elections?”

Ghosh also criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and other opposition figures for demanding the arrest of Chief Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. He questioned, “Have Rahul Gandhi and others become the judiciary? Do they have the authority to decide who should be arrested, especially someone who has conducted free and fair elections?”

He added, “If you lose elections and the public does not vote for you, who is responsible for that?”

In another development, Ghosh discussed the proposed 2,000-bed hospital being established by the Adani Group in New Town. He announced that a ground-breaking ceremony for the facility took place on Thursday, with 1,000 beds designated for free treatment of the underprivileged. He expressed readiness to support the project as it begins.

Ghosh mentioned that more industrialists and business groups are expected to arrive, and land will gradually be allocated to them. Additionally, land will be reclaimed from companies that have not commenced any work after acquiring it.
