Young Woman Assaulted Under False Marriage Pretenses in Mumbai

Mumbai, March 28: A disturbing case has emerged from the Nehru Nagar area of Mumbai, where a young woman was allegedly assaulted under the pretense of marriage. The police have registered a case and arrested the accused.

According to police reports, the suspect initially befriended the victim and gradually developed a close relationship with her. He gained her trust by promising marriage. Exploiting this trust, he reportedly engaged in physical relations with her against her will multiple times. When the victim began pressuring him for marriage, he flatly refused and started distancing himself.

Authorities stated that when the woman repeatedly insisted on marriage, the accused ceased communication and withdrew from her life. Following this, the victim lodged a complaint at the Nehru Nagar police station. Upon receiving the complaint, the police acted swiftly, taking the suspect into custody and later formally arresting him.

Police officials have indicated that the seriousness of the case warrants a thorough investigation from all angles. The victim is receiving legal assistance and counseling to provide her with mental support during this difficult time.

The complaint revealed that the accused had met the victim outside, leading to a gradual friendship. He frequently visited her home, assuring her of marriage while engaging in physical relations against her wishes for several years.

As time passed, the victim began to press for marriage, prompting the accused to stop communicating and refuse her requests. When she threatened to inform the police, he resorted to intimidation. Subsequently, the victim disclosed the entire situation to law enforcement.

Police are currently interrogating the accused, who has admitted to discussing marriage. Conversations with both families are ongoing in an effort to resolve the matter swiftly.
