Ranchi, May 18: In Jharkhand, mobile towers have become the new stage for love, stubbornness, and emotional dramas. On Monday, another high-voltage incident unfolded in the Bengabad area of Giridih district. A local youth, Sanjay Rajak, climbed a mobile tower approximately 200 feet high in a style reminiscent of the film “Sholay.”
Upon reaching the top, he declared that he would not come down until he was married to his girlfriend. His actions caused a stir among the villagers, quickly drawing a crowd of hundreds beneath the tower. Given the sensitive nature of the situation and the potential for danger, locals promptly informed the police.
The Bengabad police arrived at the scene with a team and initiated a rescue operation to bring the young man down safely. Officers and local residents used loudspeakers to plead with him to descend, but he remained adamant about his demand for marriage.
Notably, just a day prior, a woman in Dhanbad climbed a tower to free her arrested boyfriend, and another married man in Giridih had remained atop a tower for seven hours on Saturday. This marks the fourth such incident in the state within fifteen days, causing significant concern for law enforcement.
After hours of negotiation and effort, the Bengabad police, with the help of local leaders, successfully brought the young man down and took him to the police station. His family has been called in for further counseling.
