Lucknow, February 13: In the Uttar Pradesh Assembly’s budget session for 2026-27, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath targeted the opposition, particularly the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress, on issues of nationalism, law and order, cultural heritage, and development. He firmly stated that those who oppose “Vande Mataram” have no right to live on Indian soil, emphasizing that previous governments’ appeasement politics hindered both faith and development in the state.

CM Yogi criticized SP and Congress members for opposing “Vande Mataram,” a matter he linked to national identity. He asserted that individuals who say, “We will eat from India but will not sing Vande Mataram,” should not have the right to reside here. He accused the SP of obstructing development in Ayodhya and Mathura due to their appeasement policies, citing instances where the Kanwar Yatra was halted and Diwali celebrations faced opposition.

He highlighted that Uttar Pradesh is the center of the nation’s faith, stating that development alongside heritage signifies a renaissance. Referring to the ongoing Magh Mela in Prayagraj, he noted that while 120 million attended the Kumbh Mela previously, this year, 210 million pilgrims visited the Magh Mela for rituals. This surge reflects the public’s growing trust in law and order.

The Chief Minister recalled the pre-2017 era, describing it as a time when criminals operated like a parallel government, and safety for women and businesses was compromised. He stated that Uttar Pradesh has transformed from a state of unrest to one of celebration. He characterized the last nine years as a journey from chaos to order, from curfews to the rule of law, and from distrust to self-confidence. Today, Uttar Pradesh is no longer a backward state but is emerging as the third-largest economy in the country, driving forward as a development engine.

CM Yogi also discussed the implementation of a modern forensic science system in the state. Previously, there were only two or three forensic labs; now, there are 12 operational labs, and a State Forensic Institute has been established in Lucknow. Cyber police stations and desks have been set up in every district and police station, respectively. He mentioned the recruitment of 60,244 police personnel and significant expansions in training capabilities. The Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) has been reorganized, with three women’s PAC units formed and plans for three more.

He remarked that the opposition’s behavior during the session was not only a disrespect to the constitutional head but also to the maternal power of the state. Referring to Leader of Opposition Mata Prasad Pandey, he urged those who speak of tradition to show respect towards women in positions of authority.

According to the NITI Aayog’s data, over six million people have been lifted above the multidimensional poverty line in the past eight years. He assured that beneficiaries would continue to receive benefits from ration, health, and other schemes. During his address in the assembly, the Chief Minister reiterated that this government is not in a race for power but is focused on good governance, clear policies, and a strong will to bring about change.
