Jhansi, June 21: On the occasion of International Yoga Day, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized that yoga should not be limited to just June 21. It must become a part of our lifestyle. A healthy body is the foundation of a healthy nation. The Indian sage tradition has always emphasized harmony with nature in its festivals and celebrations. The essence of our culture is to live in balance with nature. CM Yogi participated in a mass yoga event in Jhansi to celebrate World Yoga Day.
The event, themed “Yoga for Healthy Aging,” also saw the launch of the AYUSH department’s e-magazine. CM Yogi noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has worked to give global recognition to India’s traditions and heritage. Thanks to his efforts, 1.4 billion Indians are moving forward with pride on the world stage, and the vision of a developed India has gained new momentum. The Prime Minister personally elevates International Yoga Day events each year in different states.
CM Yogi stated that our scriptures say, “Shariramadyam Khalu Dharmasadhanam,” meaning that a healthy body is essential for fulfilling all duties and aspirations. If one’s body is not healthy, achieving any life goal becomes impossible. A student with a healthy body and mind will reach new heights of success. A healthy farmer will achieve new milestones in agriculture and inspire society. A healthy worker will contribute to development and construction. A healthy scientist will provide new research and achievements for the nation. Only a healthy citizen can be the foundation of a healthy nation.
He also mentioned that Prime Minister Modi has set a record as the longest-serving elected Prime Minister, working to honor India’s heritage and establish it on the global stage. Today, nearly 200 countries are connected through yoga, with a growing global interest in this practice. The Prime Minister has opened new doors for employment and opportunities for Indian youth in the fields of AYUSH and traditional medicine. CM Yogi highlighted that the AYUSH department in Uttar Pradesh is continuously working in this direction. A healthy body leads to a healthy mind, and a healthy mind fosters intelligence. A sound intellect nurtures the soul, where God resides. Thus, a healthy body is the fundamental basis of life, and yoga is the most effective means to achieve it.
He pointed out that Indian culture celebrates Navratri twice a year, rooted in the science of energy and nature. Navratri coincides with seasonal changes, providing special energy from nature. June 21 is significant as it marks the longest day of the year, when sunlight reaches the earth for the longest duration. The sun is referred to as the father of the world. Those who spend more time in the sun, whether humans or plants, develop greater energy, vitality, and capacity.
CM Yogi remarked that the tradition of yoga began with Adiyogi Lord Shiva, and sages spread it worldwide. There was a time when we began to forget this great heritage, but thanks to the Prime Minister’s efforts, India is once again experiencing pride in its cultural legacy. This year, Modi has introduced the theme “Yoga for Healthy Aging,” which our sages also acknowledged. He referenced scriptures stating, “Na tasyarogo na jara na mrityuh praptasya yogagnimayam shariram,” meaning that one whose body has been strengthened by the fire of yoga does not suffer from disease, premature aging, or weakness. To avoid illness and premature aging, yoga must be a regular part of our lives.
He expressed happiness that Governor Anandiben Patel is leading Yoga Day programs in the state. Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya is participating in Prayagraj, while Deputy Chief Minister Brijesh Pathak is in Lucknow. Other ministers and senior administrative and police officials are also attending Yoga Day events across various districts. International Yoga Day is being celebrated with grandeur and divinity in all village councils, 825 development block headquarters, 350 tehsils, and 762 urban bodies across the state.
