
New Delhi, March 29: Yashaswini Singh Deswal, a talented Indian shooter, has made her mark internationally in the 10-meter air pistol event. Her precision, focus, and hard work have earned her recognition in both World Cup and Asian competitions.
Born on March 30, 1997, in Panchkula, Haryana, Yashaswini was inspired by the 2010 Commonwealth Games held in New Delhi. Watching the event on television, she resolved to win medals for her country one day.
At just 15 years old, Yashaswini began her shooting journey, making a name for herself by aiming for gold at the school nationals. In 2014, she secured sixth place at the Youth Olympics in China. That same year, she won a silver medal at the Asian Championship and a bronze at the ISSF Junior World Cup.
In 2015, Yashaswini claimed a silver medal at the Junior National Championship. The following year, she again won silver at the ISSF Junior World Cup and targeted gold at the South Asian Games. In 2017, she achieved gold at the ISSF Junior World Championship with a score of 235.9.
Although she finished fourth in the women’s 10-meter air pistol event at the 2018 ISSF World Cup, she bounced back the following year by winning gold in the same event. Yashaswini represented India at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, finishing 13th in the 10-meter air pistol and 17th in the mixed team event.
The year 2021 was particularly special for Yashaswini as she defeated Manu Bhaker in the 10-meter air pistol event, securing her second ISSF World Cup gold.
