Xiaomi Launches First Clip-On Earphones with Apple Ecosystem Support

Mumbai, May 21: Xiaomi is making its debut in the open-ear audio market with its first clip-on wireless earphones. Notably, the company is focusing on features that cater to Apple users.

Recent teasers from Xiaomi reveal that the new earbuds will support Apple’s Find My network. This feature allows users to track the earphone case from miles away using Apple devices, similar to AirPods and other certified accessories. Additionally, Xiaomi has confirmed smart dual-device connectivity for both Android and iOS platforms.

This cross-platform compatibility is significant for users who frequently switch between Android and Apple devices but do not want to invest in AirPods solely for ecosystem features.

The earphones adopt the increasingly popular open-ear clip-on design, moving away from traditional in-ear styles. Each earbud weighs approximately 5.5 grams and features a flexible memory titanium wire structure. This design ensures a comfortable fit without excessive pressure during extended listening sessions.

Xiaomi is also incorporating quality hardware into the audio experience. The earbuds are equipped with an 11mm driver, a microcrystalline metal-coated diaphragm, and support for LHDC 5.0 along with Hi-Res audio certification. For calls, a three-microphone setup combined with a VPU sensor and AI-based noise reduction is utilized.

Given that open-ear earbuds tend to leak more sound than sealed in-ear designs, Xiaomi is implementing reverse sound wave technology to minimize audio leakage, a growing concern in this product category.

The company showcased the earphones during a livestream earlier this month, revealing color variants in black, white, and gold, while a fourth version remains under wraps.

The official launch is set for May 21, coinciding with the release of several other Xiaomi products, including the Xiaomi 17 Max and Band 10 Pro.

Open-ear earbuds have gained popularity in recent years as more users seek lightweight alternatives that enhance awareness of their surroundings during workouts, commutes, or office use.
