Mumbai, March 21: The Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro have recently appeared in certification listings, signaling progress towards a global launch.
Both devices have successfully cleared Singapore’s IMDA certification. The listings reveal model numbers 2602DPT53G for the 17T and 2602EPTC0G for the 17T Pro, indicating these are global variants rather than models exclusive to China. This step typically precedes an official announcement. Additionally, there is mention of BIS certification for at least one model, suggesting that India may be included in the initial release wave.
If Xiaomi follows its usual strategy, the 17T series will enhance last year’s 15T lineup, which aimed to deliver near-flagship features at more accessible prices. The previous models featured large AMOLED displays, Mediatek Dimensity 8400 Ultra/Dimensity 9400+ chips, and Leica-tuned cameras. The upcoming generation is expected to push performance and battery life even further.
On the hardware front, the standard Xiaomi 17T is anticipated to be powered by the Dimensity 8500, coupled with a substantial battery of approximately 6500mAh. Fast charging capabilities are expected at 67W, allowing for quick top-ups despite the larger battery size.
The 17T Pro may utilize the Dimensity 9500, a newer flagship-grade chipset. This upgrade should enhance sustained performance and improve power management. Premium features are likely to remain, including Leica-backed imaging and possibly wireless charging this time around.
A notable change this year is the timing of the launch. Unlike the late Q3 release of the 15T series, the 17T lineup is expected to debut earlier, potentially in Q2. This could give Xiaomi a competitive advantage in the “affordable flagship” market before rivals intensify their efforts.
While nothing is confirmed yet, certifications like these typically do not emerge too early. Therefore, it seems to be a matter of when, not if, the launch will occur.
