New Delhi, April 20: The Women’s Reservation Amendment Bill has faced criticism after its failure to be enacted. The NDA and opposition parties are being accused of opposing reservations. Congress MP Tariq Anwar claims that the BJP has snatched away women’s reservation rights.
In an interview in New Delhi, Anwar stated that the Women’s Reservation Bill was passed unanimously in Parliament in 2023. He questioned why the BJP has not implemented it yet. “How did the BJP suddenly remember women’s reservation after three years?” he asked.
Anwar further inquired why the BJP rushed to introduce the Women’s Reservation Amendment Bill in Parliament while elections were taking place in five states.
He alleged that the BJP deliberately linked women’s reservation to delimitation and the census. “The BJP does not want women to receive reservations. This is their conspiracy,” he asserted.
Responding to Union Minister JP Nadda’s statements about implementing the UCC and expelling infiltrators, Anwar countered that the BJP has nothing to say except about infiltrators. “They have done nothing in 12 years. If the central government had accomplished anything significant, they would be able to present their achievements to the people of Bengal,” he said. “They do not discuss issues like black money, poverty reduction, unemployment, or corruption. Instead, infiltrators become their sole focus during elections.”
On the three-language formula, Anwar remarked that unnecessary pressure is being placed on children.
Regarding the statement from the RSS chief, Anwar emphasized that India is a multi-religious, multi-lingual, and multi-cultural nation. “Our ancestors and constitution makers established India as a secular nation. The Constitution ensures that everyone is included,” he concluded.
