Hyderabad, April 21: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy laid the foundation stone for the development of the Sri Kalashwar Mukteshwar Temple in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district on Monday.
The temple development project is estimated to cost ₹198 crores. Additionally, the Chief Minister performed the ground-breaking ceremony for the Kalashwaram bus station.
Present at the event were Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar, Adluri Lakshman Kumar, MP Gadham Vamshi Krishna, and other dignitaries.
Last May, CM Reddy announced that the state government would allocate ₹200 crores to develop the Kalashwaram Temple as a major tourist destination. He promised to release funds through a ‘Green Channel’.
On Monday, CM Reddy arrived in Kalashwaram by helicopter from Hyderabad, where he participated in the temple’s rituals and the ground-breaking ceremony. He also visited the Annaram Barrage, part of the Kalashwaram Lift Irrigation Project.
Accompanying the Chief Minister were Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, Revenue Minister P. Srinivas Reddy, National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) Chairman Anil Jain, and senior officials.
CM Reddy inspected geotechnical, geophysical, and GPR surveys being conducted using bore rigs at Medigadda Barrage’s piers 20, 21, and 22, along with sample collection activities.
The government plans to collect samples using 520 bore rigs and send them to the Central Water and Power Research Station (CWPRS). After laboratory testing, detailed information regarding the extent of damage to the barrage is expected.
Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy stated last week that the government, under CM Reddy’s leadership, would repair and restore the three barrages involved in the Kalashwaram project in a scientific and transparent manner. He met with NDSA Chairman Anil Jain in Delhi on April 17 to discuss the state government’s action plan for the repair and restoration of the Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundila barrages.
The minister also highlighted the precautionary measures the government is taking to avoid repeating past mistakes.
The NDSA Chairman expressed satisfaction with the comprehensive testing being conducted under expert supervision.
