Kolkata, April 23: Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted a roadshow in Belur Math, attracting a large crowd eager to catch a glimpse of him. Notably, many young people gathered along the route, showcasing significant enthusiasm.
Some women who had been waiting for over an hour shared their experiences. One woman expressed her excitement after waiting for half an hour to see the Prime Minister. Another mentioned that they had waited for three hours, stating, “It was worth the wait. He is our Prime Minister, and we don’t mind enduring the wait to see him.”
A local resident declared that the people of Bengal have decided to form a new government in the state. “Change is coming to Bengal. The BJP government will work for all communities,” he asserted.
Another woman shared her relief after waiting an hour to finally see PM Modi. She emphasized their presence was to assure that change is necessary in Bengal. “A BJP government should be formed because with Modi, development is possible,” she stated.
In the first phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections, voting took place for 152 seats. According to the Election Commission, approximately 90 percent voter turnout was recorded by 5 PM, marking a significant achievement.
Earlier, during an election rally, PM Modi criticized the Mamata Banerjee government, claiming that the BJP had proposed a 33 percent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha elections of 2029. He accused the TMC of voting against this proposal, thus denying rights to women in Bengal. “Bengal is the land that worships Goddess Durga, yet the TMC has disrespected women here. Now, the public will settle the score at the polls,” he concluded.
