Weather Shift in NCR: Rain and Thunderstorms Expected Today

Noida, May 5: The weather in the National Capital Region (NCR) has taken another turn. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, rain accompanied by thunder is expected today in Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad. Strong winds are also forecasted.

The rainfall over the past 24 hours has led to a drop in temperatures, providing relief from the intense heat. On May 5, the maximum temperature recorded was 33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum was 19 degrees Celsius. Thunderstorm conditions with rain persisted throughout the day.

Looking ahead to May 6, temperatures are expected to rise to 36/21 degrees Celsius, with partial cloud cover and the possibility of lightning strikes. On May 7, temperatures may reach 37/24 degrees Celsius, and on May 8, they could climb to 38/23 degrees Celsius. By May 9 and 10, maximum temperatures may hit 39 degrees Celsius, although clear skies are anticipated.

Currently, no specific warnings have been issued for these days. The recent rainfall has significantly improved air quality in the NCR. The Air Quality Index (AQI) in various areas of Delhi has reached green and satisfactory levels. In Alipur, the AQI was recorded at 51, Ashok Vihar at 60, Aaya Nagar at 63, and Bawana at 68. However, Anand Vihar (111) and Chandni Chowk (106) remained in the moderate category.

In Noida, the AQI in Sector 125 was 100, while Sectors 62 and 1 recorded 64, and Sector 116 had an AQI of 65. In Ghaziabad, Govindpuram (96), Indirapuram (66), Sanjay Nagar (46), and Vasundhara (60) showed improved air quality. Continuous rainfall and strong winds have allowed residents of NCR to experience air quality akin to that of hilly regions. Experts suggest that if these conditions persist, pollution levels may remain under control in the coming days.
