Lucknow, August 29: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the timely resolution of long-pending cases in revenue courts. He emphasized that unnecessary delays in matters concerning citizens’ land, property, and rights are unacceptable. The trend of “date after date” must change. The Chief Minister instructed officials to prioritize and resolve all revenue cases pending for over five years, from the Naib Tehsildar court to the Revenue Council. He specifically called for the expedited handling of uncontested inheritance cases under Section 33.
During a video conference with senior officials and field officers on public interest issues, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of promptly addressing public grievances received through Jan Darshan and IGRS. He stated that resolving complaints should not be limited to paperwork; the actual problems of the complainants must be addressed. He instructed that all relevant facts and records should be thoroughly examined before resolving any complaint, ensuring necessary reports are obtained.
The review revealed instances where cases were resolved based on information other than the original complaint or were closed without obtaining necessary reports. The Chief Minister ordered a re-evaluation of cases with unsatisfactory feedback to gather factual reports. He stated that cases resolved unsatisfactorily or closed based on incorrect reports should be sent to the Chief Minister’s office, seeking clarification from the respective District Magistrate or Police Superintendent within five days. Each case must ensure a satisfactory resolution for the complainant. He reiterated that the government’s priority is not merely to reduce the number of complaints but to find real and lasting solutions to the public’s issues.
The meeting also presented the district-wise status of cases related to name changes, boundary demarcation, measurement, share determination, inheritance, partition, and land use from the Naib Tehsildar court to the District Magistrate and Revenue Council levels. The Chief Minister was informed about the top five districts with the longest pending cases and the ten oldest pending cases in the state.
He instructed District Magistrates to personally review revenue courts in their districts and ensure regular monitoring of pending cases. The Chief Minister noted that the swift resolution of revenue cases would provide significant relief to citizens, freeing them from the burden of repeatedly visiting officials and courts for years. He called for a clear, time-bound action plan for the resolution of pending cases, along with effective monitoring.
Additionally, the meeting analyzed the crime situation in the state from July 13 to August 23. The Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order, reported a decrease in total FIRs by 0.4%, serious crimes by 5.1%, crimes against women by 3.9%, and crimes against Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes by 11.2% compared to the previous period.
The Chief Minister instructed continuous vigilance and effective action for crime control. He emphasized the need for special attention and prompt action regarding crimes against women and children. He directed weekly crime analysis at the police zone and range levels, ensuring regular assessments of the actual crime situation and immediate action where necessary. He urged for increased activity and presence of women beat police officers in the field and called for strict measures against incidents like harassment and chain snatching. The Chief Minister stated that police actions against criminals should be effective and serve as a deterrent to others.
In light of the upcoming celebrations for Shri Krishna Janmashtami, Vishwakarma Puja, and Ganesh Chaturthi, the Chief Minister instructed the police and administration to ensure thorough preparations with vigilance and sensitivity. He noted that Shri Krishna Janmashtami is celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm across the state. Given the expected crowds in Mathura-Vrindavan, a detailed crowd control plan should be prepared in advance, coordinating with the management of Shri Banke Bihari Temple and making arrangements for holding areas as necessary.
