Mumbai, February 16: In a recent T20 World Cup match held in Colombo, India triumphed over Pakistan, securing a spot in the Super 8. Following this victory, Waris Pathan, a leader of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), asserted that no one has been born who can defeat India.
In an interview in Mumbai, Pathan emphasized that India has consistently emerged victorious against Pakistan and will continue to do so. He stated, “Pakistan has no standing against India.” However, he expressed his belief that India should refrain from playing matches against Pakistan, citing the latter’s promotion of terrorist activities. “We have severed all ties with Pakistan. Yet, for a few bucks, we play matches. If we cannot shake hands, we should not play,” he remarked.
Addressing the controversy surrounding Tipu Sultan, Pathan responded to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s comments, suggesting that Fadnavis should study history. He highlighted that it was Tipu Sultan who bravely fought against the British and became a martyr. “His image is included in the Constitution due to his historical significance. Why do you only praise those associated with the RSS, who merely wrote mercy petitions from prison?” he questioned.
Pathan accused the BJP and the Maharashtra Chief Minister of spreading hatred. “If Fadnavis reads the Constitution, he will appreciate Tipu Sultan,” he added.
On the topic of former minister Abdul Sattar’s visit to a temple during Mahashivratri, Pathan urged Sattar to clarify his reasons for the visit. He suggested that individuals like Sattar engage in such actions to please their political masters.
In response to Congress leader Harshvardhan Sapkal’s comparison of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to Tipu Sultan, Pathan stated that they respect and honor Shivaji Maharaj. He indicated that Congress leaders could better explain the rationale behind such comparisons.
He concluded by reiterating that Tipu Sultan was a brave warrior who made the British taste defeat and ultimately sacrificed his life in the struggle against them.
