Ongoing Diplomatic Talks with Iran, Military Action Decision Lies with Trump: Marco Rubio
Marco Rubio confirms diplomatic talks with Iran continue, while military decisions rest with President Trump amid rising tensions.

Atlanta, October 31 (Daily Kiran) : U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that diplomatic discussions with Iran have never ceased and are ongoing at various levels. However, he refrained from commenting on how much time the U.S. would allocate for these diplomatic efforts or the progress toward a potential agreement.
Speaking at the conclusion of the G20 foreign ministers’ meeting, Rubio emphasized that the U.S. is ready for any diplomatic solution that addresses its national security concerns. He accused Iran of supporting armed groups that destabilize the Middle East and targeting commercial vessels.
“Discussions are taking place on multiple fronts. They have never stopped. In some instances, communication is direct, while in others, it occurs through intermediaries,” Rubio explained.
When asked about the timeline for potential military action if diplomatic efforts fail, he stated that such a decision would ultimately rest with President Donald Trump. He declined to comment on the progress of the talks or any specific timelines.
“If a diplomatic solution is possible, we are prepared for it, but it must ensure the security of the United States,” he added.
Rubio identified Iran’s nuclear program and its support for regional groups as major concerns for the U.S. He alleged that Iran-backed organizations are undermining peace and stability in the region.
In response to inquiries about possible new military strikes, Rubio noted that President Trump seeks a peaceful resolution but affirmed that the U.S. is fully confident in its military capabilities. He added that no decisions have been made yet.
Rubio accused Iran of targeting commercial vessels carrying oil, gas, and other goods. He mentioned that U.S. forces are actively protecting maritime routes from drone and missile attacks almost every night.
He warned that disruptions to maritime trade could impact the supply of energy, fertilizers, and agricultural products, affecting countries far removed from conflict zones.
Regarding Saudi Arabia, Rubio reiterated that the U.S. will continue to uphold its defense commitments and maintain regular contact with Saudi leadership. He also welcomed the involvement of other nations in ensuring Saudi security.
