Chennai, April 19: Actor-politician C. Joseph Vijay, president of the Tamilga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), has ramped up his election campaign with extensive public outreach in key constituencies. Vijay is contesting elections from both Chennai’s Perambur and Tiruchi East seats.
After a vigorous door-to-door campaign in the Perambur assembly constituency, Vijay is set to promote his candidacy in Tiruchi East on Sunday evening. According to party sources, he will depart from Chennai via a private jet at 2 PM and arrive in Tiruchi shortly thereafter. The campaign in Tiruchi East will run from 3 PM to 7 PM, covering several prominent areas in the constituency.
Vijay will kick off his campaign with a road show near the airport, followed by stops at Thendral Nagar, KK Nagar bus stand, Kazhamalai Road, EVR College Road, Tamil Nadu Hotel Junction, Kozhipannai Road, and Kottapattu.
Addressing the public from an open vehicle, Vijay will seek support for his party’s candidates in the upcoming assembly elections. After completing the campaign activities, he is expected to return to Tiruchi Airport by 7 PM.
Officials have granted permission for the campaign under strict adherence to election guidelines. The returning officer has given the green light following approvals from the election commission and police. However, authorities have imposed certain conditions to ensure compliance with the ‘Model Code of Conduct’ and to maintain public order.
Political flags must not be displayed in a manner that obstructs traffic. Any violations of election rules during the campaign are strictly prohibited. Additionally, the display of unauthorized posters, banners, or party flags at campaign sites is completely banned. The use or possession of any hazardous or explosive materials is also explicitly forbidden.
Officials have emphasized that the campaign must only occur within the designated time frame and specified locations.
As the vigorous election campaign approaches its final phase, all eyes are on Vijay’s strategy of contesting from two constituencies, as TVK aims to strengthen its position in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape.
