Vijay Announces Candidates for Tamil Nadu Elections, to Contest from Two Seats

Chennai, March 29: Actor-turned-politician Vijay has officially announced the names of candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in Tamil Nadu. He will contest from two assembly seats: Trichy East and Perambur.

The announcement took place at a private hotel in Nungambakkam, Chennai, where party leaders, workers, and supporters gathered.

Vijay also revealed the candidates for the Tamilaga Vetrikazhagam (TVK) party. General Secretary N. Anand will contest from the T Nagar constituency, while Treasurer Venkata Raman will run from Mylapore, and Adhav Arjun will contest from Villivakkam.

His decision to contest from an urban seat in Chennai and a significant central constituency in Tamil Nadu is seen as an effort to broaden his appeal among various voter demographics. CTR Nirmal Kumar will contest from Tirupparankundram, and Satyakumar will run from Tiruttani.

Vijay stated, “We have chosen those who will stand with the people.” He announced a ‘guarantee’ for youth and pledged steps to make Tamil Nadu drug-free, along with a promise of interest-free loans.

He criticized the DMK-led alliance as merely a coalition of convenience, emphasizing the competition between TVK’s public alliance and the ‘Stalin Sar Alliance’ in Tamil Nadu.

Insiders within the party indicated that the candidate selection process focused on a mix of youth, professionals, and grassroots workers, reflecting Vijay’s vision for clean and people-centric governance.

Leadership highlighted the importance of representing new faces while ensuring regional balance across all constituencies.

During the launch event, party workers participated enthusiastically, and Vijay reiterated his commitment to transparency, development, and inclusive politics. He urged party workers to spread the message of change to every household in the state.

With this announcement, TVK has formally entered the electoral arena, laying the groundwork for a multi-faceted contest in the Tamil Nadu assembly elections.

Political analysts believe that Vijay’s entry could significantly influence voter sentiment, especially among youth and first-time voters, potentially altering the political landscape in the state in the coming months.
