New Delhi, March 29: Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan will lead a national meeting on Sunday to discuss how technology can enhance access to legal assistance and justice for the general public.
An official stated that the Ministry of Law and Justice is organizing this consultation to provide a platform for dialogue, policy discussions, and stakeholder engagement.
The national consultation for 2026, under the Tele-Law initiative, aims to ensure comprehensive access to justice. This initiative falls under the “Access to Justice” department.
Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State for Law and Justice, will also participate in the consultation meeting, which is part of the department’s ongoing efforts.
During the event, the “Voice of Beneficiaries” booklet for 2025-26 will be launched. This booklet features inspiring stories of individuals positively impacted by Tele-Law services, showcasing the transformative potential of digital access to justice.
The program will include live interactions with Tele-Law panel lawyers, grassroots entrepreneurs, and beneficiaries, demonstrating the real-time experiences and the impact of technology-enabled legal assistance at the community level.
A statement indicated that a special program will feature local artists performing the national song “Vande Mataram” to commemorate its 150th anniversary, celebrating its historical and cultural significance.
The consultation session will also include the release of a white paper derived from a technical session held prior to the event. This document will compile insights, recommendations, and best practices from experts, policymakers, and practitioners.
An AI-powered chatbot named “Nyaya Setu” will be launched. Designed to serve as a digital bridge between citizens and legal services, this user-friendly chatbot will provide quick legal information and guidance, helping users understand their legal rights, access Tele-Law services, and utilize dispute resolution mechanisms.
Additionally, a series of comic books focused on legal awareness, developed in collaboration with the National Law University in Delhi, will be unveiled during the event.
The statement noted that approximately 1,200 participants are expected to attend, including officials from the Supreme Court E-Committee, the National Legal Services Authority, bar members, government lawyers, Tele-Law panel lawyers, and village-level entrepreneurs (VLEs).
