
New Delhi: Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan appreciated the commendable services of NCC cadets during Operation Sindoor and various disaster relief campaigns. He addressed the NCC Republic Day Camp 2026 held in New Delhi on Monday.
During his speech, the Vice President highlighted the valuable contributions of NCC cadets in these operations. He stated that NCC camps are not just training centres but also embody India’s unity in diversity, constitutional values, and offer a glimpse of future leadership.
As the chief guest at the inauguration of the NCC Republic Day Camp, Vice President Radhakrishnan praised the vital role of NCC in nation-building. He noted that the NCC motto, “Unity and Discipline,” significantly contributes to shaping confident, responsible, and service-oriented citizens.
He emphasized that the youth participating in NCC form the foundation for a developed India by 2047. Upon his arrival, the Vice President was welcomed with a guard of honour by the NCC cadets. He then toured the Hall of Fame, where he was briefed on the proud legacy, achievements, and progress of the NCC. The Vice President also inspected various exhibition stalls showcasing initiatives like the Young Disaster Friends Scheme, drone training, and the use of emerging technologies.
The Vice President lauded NCC’s role in disaster preparedness and the adoption of new technologies. The event included cultural programmes reflecting the arts and cultures of different states. He engaged with the cadets, appreciating their discipline, enthusiasm, and sense of national pride.
The NCC camp will host several competitions such as Best Cadet, Small Arms Firing, Republic Day Parade Marching Contingent, and Flag Area Designing. Defence Minister and senior officers from the three services also visit this special NCC camp for Republic Day.
The Ministry of Defence stated that this year’s camp includes cadets from 28 states and 8 union territories. A total of 2,406 cadets are participating, including 898 girl cadets, marking the largest contingent to date. Along with Indian cadets, 25 cadets and officers from friendly countries are attending under the Youth Exchange Programme.
