
Jaipur, April 25: Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan attended the 23rd Cancer Survivors Day event organized by the Bhagwan Mahavir Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Jaipur on Saturday. Speaking to the attendees, he described cancer survivors as true warriors, emphasizing that their courage and resilience inspire hope and strength throughout society.
The Vice President stated, “Cancer Survivors Day is a celebration of the extraordinary spirit of humanity.” He addressed the rising cancer cases in India, asserting that early diagnosis and awareness are crucial for saving lives. He called for collective action, urging, “No one should fight cancer alone.”
Radhakrishnan highlighted the impact of the Ayushman Bharat Prime Minister Jan Arogya Yojana on cancer care. He noted that nearly 75% of the benefits are reaching the rural population, addressing significant healthcare gaps and expanding access to life-saving treatments. The event was also attended by Rajasthan Governor Haribhai Kisanrao Bagde, Rajasthan Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar, and Bhagwan Mahavir Cancer Hospital President Navratan Kothari, among others.
On Saturday morning, Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan was welcomed at Jaipur International Airport by Governor Haribhai Kisanrao Bagde, Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Prem Chand Baidwan, and other dignitaries. The Vice President is also set to participate in the 35th convocation ceremony of Rajasthan University.
Earlier, on Thursday, he presided over the sixth convocation ceremony at AIIMS Rishikesh in Uttarakhand. Addressing the graduating medical students, he remarked that a convocation is not just the end of academic training but the beginning of a significant responsibility towards society and the nation. He urged young doctors to serve with dedication, compassion, and determination. He emphasized that healthcare is a public trust and a vital pillar of nation-building, encouraging graduates to focus on preventive care, rural outreach, research, and innovation. He also highlighted the spiritual and cultural significance of Rishikesh as a global center for healing and reflection, which adds further value to such academic achievements.
