New Delhi, 27 August (Kiran News). Veteran Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Wednesday. However, he has stated that he will continue playing in other leagues.

Ashwin made this announcement through a post on social media. On X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, “A special day and hence a special start. They say every end has a new beginning. My time as an IPL cricketer ends today, but my time exploring the game in different leagues starts now. I want to thank all the franchises for the wonderful memories and relationships over the years. Most importantly, thanks to the IPL and BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India), who have given me so much. I look forward to enjoying and making the most of whatever lies ahead.”

Ashwin Had Already Retired from International Cricket

Ashwin had already retired from international cricket. He played his last international match on 18 December 2024, bidding farewell after the Gabba Test against Australia. However, he continued to play in the IPL. Now, the veteran cricketer has also said goodbye to the IPL.

Last Season’s Performance Was Not Special
