Lucknow, March 19: The auspicious beginning of Chaitra Navratri has brought a remarkable blend of faith, creativity, and social awareness to schools across Uttar Pradesh. On the first day of the sixth phase of the ‘Mission Shakti’ initiative, primary, upper primary, composite schools, and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) organized extensive poster-making and discussions centered around the nine forms of Navadurga.
In this special campaign, 233,000 students crafted attractive posters depicting the nine forms of Navadurga: Shailputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayani, Kalratri, Mahagauri, and Siddhidatri. These artistic expressions effectively conveyed themes of strength, courage, compassion, and self-reliance. The vibrant creations displayed in school premises not only showcased the children’s creative talents but also highlighted that the new generation recognizes feminine power as a source of change and leadership, not just reverence.
Uttar Pradesh’s Basic Education Minister, Sandeep Singh, stated that through ‘Mission Shakti,’ the state government is committed to empowering girls to be strong, safe, and self-reliant. Introducing children to the true essence of feminine strength through the forms of Navadurga is an innovative initiative. This program aims to strengthen cultural consciousness and foster self-confidence and leadership skills among girls.
During this event, the unique traits associated with each form of Navadurga—courage, patience, service, knowledge, and leadership—were explained in detail, linking them to the personality development of girls. This instilled a belief in students that they too can embody these qualities and bring about positive change in society. Meaningful discussions on critical topics such as girls’ education, safety, dignity, and rights took place.
Teachers informed students that ‘Mission Shakti’ is not merely a government initiative but a comprehensive social movement aimed at establishing gender equality. The focal point of the entire event was girl empowerment. During the discussions, girls confidently shared their thoughts, voiced their dreams, and conveyed the message that they are ready to break free from limitations and establish their identities in every field.
This campaign extended beyond school walls, reaching parents and local communities, thereby creating an atmosphere of positive awareness in society. Monika Rani, the Director General of School Education in Uttar Pradesh, emphasized that activities based on the nine forms of Navadurga under ‘Mission Shakti’ serve as a powerful means to develop self-confidence, inner strength, and leadership skills among girls. On this occasion, students are being inspired to connect with Indian cultural values and become empowered and self-reliant.
