Lucknow, September 2: The Uttar Pradesh government has taken another significant step to connect its products with the global market and boost foreign investment in the state. A delegation from Germany met with Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Wednesday to discuss establishing industries and businesses in Uttar Pradesh, exploring investment opportunities, and enhancing trade between the two countries.
The meeting particularly focused on promoting quality products from Uttar Pradesh’s food processing sector and self-help groups in the German market. The Deputy Chief Minister stated that, thanks to the efforts of the double-engine government, Uttar Pradesh is rapidly emerging as a reliable hub for global investment. He invited German companies to invest and establish industries in the state, emphasizing the government’s commitment to providing facilities, security, better connectivity, and essential transport services for investors. The government has created a favorable environment for investment and is offering all possible support to industries.
During the meeting at his residence in Lucknow, Maurya welcomed the executives of Innovation Hub Rhineland, including CEO Stephen Wittenkind, GIBA Chairman Selvakumar Periyasamy, and GIBA CEO Nirmal Raman Kanniya, with a bouquet and a statue of Gautam Buddha. Senior officials from Invest UP and the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative were also present.
Stephen Wittenkind presented the Deputy Chief Minister with a symbol of Germany. The meeting involved in-depth discussions on the potential for German companies to establish industries and businesses in Uttar Pradesh, along with various issues related to investment, import-export, and commercial cooperation. Both parties agreed to work towards making local products from Uttar Pradesh available in international markets and strengthening trade relations between India and Germany.
The German delegation also extended an invitation to Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya to visit Germany. This is seen as a significant step towards advancing trade and investment relations between the two sides. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India’s trade relations with European countries have been steadily strengthening, opening new business opportunities for Indian companies abroad. Markets are now being prepared for products made in Uttar Pradesh, alongside the ‘Made in India’ label.
Maurya highlighted that making food processing products and those crafted by women from self-help groups available in international markets will strengthen the rural economy. This will create new job opportunities and empower women while giving local products global recognition. The Deputy Chief Minister affirmed that the state government’s goal is not only to confine Uttar Pradesh’s local products to the domestic market but to establish a strong identity for them in the global market. Growing trade cooperation with Germany can play a crucial role in this direction.
