Uttar Pradesh Implements AI Surveillance for Upcoming Exams

Lucknow, May 19: The Uttar Pradesh government has announced stringent measures for the upcoming Lekhpal recruitment main exam and the Joint B.Ed Entrance Exam 2026. These exams will be monitored live using AI surveillance to ensure security, transparency, and oversight.

Agricultural Production Commissioner Deepak Kumar reviewed the preparations for both exams on Tuesday. He instructed divisional commissioners, district magistrates, and senior police officials to maintain the integrity of the exams at all costs. The exams must be conducted fairly, transparently, and systematically, adhering to established standards. Additional vigilance has been mandated in districts with a high number of candidates.

Training for center supervisors, static and sector magistrates, and all personnel at exam centers will be intensified to prevent any operational lapses. The commissioner emphasized the utmost priority for securing confidential materials. He directed that question papers and other sensitive materials be retrieved from the treasury according to a predetermined series and delivered to exam centers in a timely manner. Thorough checks and frisking of candidates are to be conducted seriously.

In light of anticipated crowds at railway stations, bus terminals, and exam centers, adequate police presence and traffic management have been ordered. Special monitoring of social media and activation of local intelligence networks have also been stressed. To address the heat, uninterrupted power supply and drinking water facilities will be ensured at exam centers, along with the establishment of holding areas at railway stations and bus terminals as necessary. Nearby hospitals are to remain on alert, and the availability of ORS and essential medicines will be confirmed.

S.N. Sabat, Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission, announced that the Lekhpal recruitment main exam will take place on May 21 from 10 AM to 12 PM across 861 centers in 44 districts. A total of 366,712 candidates will participate, with over 10,000 candidates from cities like Lucknow, Varanasi, Kanpur Nagar, Meerut, Gorakhpur, Bareilly, Agra, Prayagraj, Moradabad, Ghaziabad, Saharanpur, Aligarh, and Jhansi.

Meanwhile, Prof. Mukesh Pandey, Vice-Chancellor of Bundelkhand University, reported a significant increase in applications for the Joint B.Ed Entrance Exam 2026, with 444,958 applications received this year. The exam will be conducted across 1,011 centers in 72 districts, with 61% female and 39% male candidates participating.

The exam will occur in two shifts: the first from 9 AM to 12 PM and the second from 2 PM to 5 PM. Prof. Pandey noted that an AI-enabled surveillance system control room has been established to monitor all exam centers live. This system will automatically alert authorities to any unauthorized activities, crowding, disputes, or the presence of more individuals than allowed, as well as any activities before or after the exam time. Biometric and facial recognition attendance will also be ensured for candidates during both shifts.
