Jersey and Kuwait Secure Spots in 2027 World Cup Qualifier Play-Offs
Jersey and Kuwait qualify for the 2027 World Cup qualifier play-offs after strong performances in Challenge League A.

Dubai, November 3 (Daily Kiran) : Jersey and Kuwait have successfully secured their places in the upcoming qualifier play-offs for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027. This achievement comes after both teams finished in the top two spots of ‘Challenge League A’, keeping their World Cup hopes alive.
Jersey showcased an impressive performance throughout the 15-match campaign, losing only two games. They finished five points ahead of Kuwait, who also performed admirably to clinch second place. Both teams will now compete in a play-off featuring eight teams, which will determine the final four spots for the World Cup qualifiers.
Kuwait concluded their campaign on a high note, benefiting from critical wins that helped them secure the second position, finishing seven points clear of Denmark. Denmark faced defeats against Kenya and Papua New Guinea in the final stages of the competition, which hindered their chances.
The qualifier play-offs will include the top two teams from both ‘Challenge League A’ and ‘Challenge League B’, along with the bottom four teams from ‘Cricket World Cup League 2’. This structure is part of the 50-over qualification framework, with ‘League 2’ positioned just above the ‘Challenge League’.
Italy and Uganda have also qualified from ‘Challenge League B’ and will join Jersey and Kuwait in the tournament. Meanwhile, Canada, Nepal, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are among the bottom four teams in ‘League 2’ and will compete in the play-offs. Oman currently sits fourth but must avoid a significant defeat against the UAE to maintain their position, as Namibia could challenge for that spot.
This play-off marks a significant milestone for Kuwait, as it will be their first participation in One Day International matches, which this tournament is sanctioned as. Jersey, on the other hand, has previous experience in such competitions, having participated in a similar tournament during the 2023 qualification cycle, where they secured one victory against Papua New Guinea.
In related news, the United States, Scotland, and the Netherlands have already secured their spots in the top four of League 2, qualifying directly for the Cricket World Cup qualifiers.
