Enhance Your Flexibility with Tiryak Tadasana: Benefits and Proper Technique

New Delhi, August 27: In today’s fast-paced world and with poor dietary habits, various health issues can arise. To stay refreshed and fit, yoga is an excellent option. One of the beneficial poses is Tiryak Tadasana, which is particularly advantageous for the abdomen and lower back.

According to guidelines from the Ministry of AYUSH and yoga institutions, Tiryak Tadasana (the swaying palm tree pose) is a fantastic yoga asana that enhances flexibility and improves balance. This simple yet effective standing pose involves bending the body sideways, requiring alertness throughout the practice.

To practice Tiryak Tadasana, start by standing in Tadasana with your feet shoulder-width apart and your body straight. Keep your arms down. Inhale deeply, interlock your fingers, raise your palms overhead, and keep your elbows straight. While exhaling, gently bend to the left or right at the waist. Hold this position for 10 to 30 seconds, breathing normally. Repeat this 3 to 5 times.

This pose increases the flexibility of the spine, alleviates lower back pain and stiffness, and massages the abdomen and intestines, improving digestion and relieving constipation. It also stretches and strengthens the muscles of the sides, shoulders, chest, and arms. Additionally, lung capacity increases, making breathing easier. Practicing Tiryak Tadasana enhances balance and concentration, reduces stress, and boosts energy levels. Regular practice can also help reduce waist fat.

However, the Ministry of AYUSH advises some precautions. Individuals with injuries to the back, spine, or abdomen should avoid this pose. Pregnant women should also exercise caution.
