Assam Health Minister Reviews Healthcare Facilities in Majuli

Guwahati, August 28: Assam’s Health and Family Welfare Minister, Ashok Singhal, visited the river island district of Majuli on Thursday to assess healthcare services and infrastructure. He inspected medical facilities and met with officials to discuss improvements in key health indicators.

Singhal toured the 50-bed Ayurvedic hospital located in Sri Ram Chapori, evaluating treatment facilities, medical services, and the overall functioning of the institution. He engaged with doctors, health workers, patients, and caregivers to understand the challenges faced by the hospital and the necessary improvements in healthcare delivery.

He assured that the issues identified during the inspection would be addressed promptly. The minister emphasized the government’s goal of building strong, accessible, and quality healthcare infrastructure in Majuli by ensuring better coordination between traditional Ayurvedic treatments and modern health services.

Later, Singhal visited the Sri Sri Peetambar Dev Goswami District Civil Hospital, where he reviewed medical services, infrastructure, and hospital management. He once again interacted with doctors, health workers, patients, and their caregivers to gather feedback on the difficulties and needs related to healthcare delivery. He promised that necessary steps would be taken to resolve the identified issues.

During his visit, Singhal also paid homage at the historic Sri Sri Uttar Kamalabari Satra, one of Majuli’s significant spiritual and cultural centers. He prayed for the welfare and prosperity of the people of Assam and participated in the Vaishnav traditions of the monastery.

At the Majuli Deputy Commissioner’s office, the minister held a review meeting on the district’s health and family welfare indicators. The discussion included maternal and child health, disease control, services provided by health institutions, medical infrastructure, and the progress of government health programs.

Singhal stressed the need for targeted, grassroots interventions to further improve health indicators and make healthcare facilities more effectively accessible to the people. He stated that the government is continuously working to ensure that the residents of Majuli receive quality health services within the district.
