US Planned Venezuela Strike Five Months Ago: Real Motive Revealed

American President Donald Trump announced on Saturday at 4:21 am on Truth Social that a daring mission had been carried out to capture Venezuelan President Maduro and his wife. This message surprised the entire world. Although the move appeared sudden internationally, sources reveal that the United States began ‘Operation Absolute Resolve’ about five months ago.

On Saturday, the US Delta Force detained Maduro within minutes, a result of months of preparation. From August 2025, the CIA and selected Delta Force soldiers rehearsed every step carefully.

Sources confirmed that President Trump approved the operation after receiving solid intelligence from the CIA and verifying Delta Force’s readiness. The mission was approved just four days prior but was postponed until Saturday for better weather conditions. Trump stated that Maduro tried to hide in a secret room behind heavy steel doors in his safe house, but the forces foiled the attempt.

A core committee was formed comprising Trump’s senior aide Stephen Miller, Foreign Minister Marco Rubio, Defence Minister Pete Hegseth, and CIA Director John Radcliffe. This team provided daily updates to the President.

Since August 2025, the CIA gathered detailed information on Maduro. Agents were placed very close to him, monitoring his every move.

Based on CIA inputs, Delta Force created an exact replica of Maduro’s safe house and practiced multiple ways to enter and capture him.

The Pentagon deployed a massive military assembly in the Caribbean, including an aircraft carrier, 11 warships, over a dozen F-35 fighter jets, and more than 15,000 troops, prepared for any situation. Alongside the Delta Force, FBI teams were present in Caracas during the mission. Agents continuously relayed Maduro’s precise location during the operation.

Experts remain divided over the reasons and methods behind the US strike on Venezuela. Many diplomatic specialists believe this action violates international laws and aims to install a US-friendly government there. Former ambassador Ashok Sajjanhar stated that the US has long accused Maduro of facilitating drug trafficking, posing a threat to American security. This led to US attacks on Venezuela’s coastal areas, resulting in over a hundred deaths and the seizure of vessels and oil tankers.

There are allegations that proceeds from oil sales are used to fund drug trafficking. However, the US has not provided concrete evidence supporting these claims. Thus, the strike likely reflects America’s desire to maintain dominance over the continent. The new US security strategy released in December also highlights this intent. Maduro’s growing closeness with China and Russia was a concern for the US, which wants to prevent their influence there.

Given frequent illegal crossings from Venezuela into the US, Trump deemed it necessary to depose Maduro, which was ultimately achieved. Sajjanhar emphasised that launching attacks without concrete proof and arresting a country’s president and spouse is against international law. No nation has the right to violate another’s sovereignty, so the matter will now be taken to the United Nations.

JNU Associate Professor and foreign affairs expert Amit Singh said the strike will negatively impact global politics. Trump aims to assert US dominance in Latin America and send a message that America’s authority prevails. However, this has damaged his image, as he touted himself as a peace advocate but disrespected the sovereignty of another nation.
