US Embassy Issues Urgent Advisory for Citizens in Israel Amid Rising Tensions

Jerusalem, March 3: Amid escalating conflicts in the Middle East, the US Embassy in Israel has issued an official advisory urging American citizens to arrange their own security measures.

In its statement, the embassy warned that the security situation remains unstable and unpredictable. It advised citizens to take personal safety seriously.

The statement read, “The US Embassy is currently unable to assist Americans in evacuating or leaving Israel directly.”

It further emphasized, “The embassy continues to advise US citizens to exercise caution and remain vigilant regarding personal security. In the event of a red alert, we urge individuals to seek the nearest shelter, as incidents involving mortar, rocket, and missile fire, as well as incursions by unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), can occur without warning.”

Given the current circumstances, the embassy noted that it may restrict the movement of US government employees and their families without prior notice. This could include limiting or prohibiting travel to specific areas within Israel, such as the Old City of Jerusalem and the West Bank.

In travel-related updates, the embassy mentioned that the Israeli Tourism Ministry has initiated a shuttle service for the Taba border crossing starting March 2.

US citizens wishing to use this service can register their names on the passenger list through the ministry’s evacuation form. However, the embassy clarified that it cannot provide advice for or against the use of the shuttle service.

The US Embassy stated, “The embassy cannot provide any advice (for or against) regarding the tourism ministry’s shuttle. If you choose to use this option, the US government cannot guarantee your safety.”

The statement added, “This information is being shared as a courtesy for those who wish to leave Israel.”

For those looking to travel to Jordan, the embassy advised that travelers can take a shuttle to Eilat and then taxi to the Yitzhak Rabin border crossing.

It noted that buses will be available at designated meeting points across the country, including parking areas in Herzliya, Haifa, Jerusalem, and Tel Aviv.

The embassy also urged citizens to review the guidelines from the Israeli Home Front Command before heading to any border crossings and to stay updated on official security instructions as conditions evolve.
