New Delhi, March 13: Sergio Gore, the US Ambassador to India, announced on Friday that the United States and India are close to finalizing a significant agreement on critical minerals. This deal could greatly enhance strategic cooperation and strengthen supply chains between the two nations.
During an event, Ambassador Gore emphasized that the growing connection between the two countries reflects a deep partnership that extends beyond traditional trade relations. His comments came shortly after both nations agreed on a framework for a bilateral trade agreement (BTA) aimed at boosting economic collaboration.
Gore stated, “The US and India are fully focused on each other, indicating a profound partnership that is continually strengthening.” He noted that this relationship is entering a new phase of strategic cooperation.
He further remarked that under President Donald Trump, the potential for the relationship to reach “global heights” is significant.
“The momentum and opportunity we needed are now being unlocked,” Gore added.
The ambassador stressed that the partnership between India and the US is not limited to tariffs or market access. It also focuses on securing resources and strengthening supply chains that will shape the global economy for decades to come.
“This partnership is about securing the resources and supply chains that will determine the future global economy,” he emphasized.
Highlighting a specific area of cooperation, Gore pointed out that critical minerals have emerged as one of the most essential aspects of the partnership. He stated, “Critical minerals are among the most vital areas for collaboration between our countries. Reliable and diverse supply chains for these minerals are essential for both economic growth and national security.”
According to the ambassador, the US and India are very close to finalizing a critical minerals agreement that will help secure supply chains necessary for high-level manufacturing, energy systems, and new technologies.
He added, “A major announcement on this front will come in the next few months.”
Additionally, Ambassador Gore indicated a focus on enhancing cooperation in the high-technology sector. Referencing recent developments in India’s semiconductor industry, he noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated new facilities and celebrated advancements in the sector, showcasing the growing collaboration between the two nations.
He also mentioned, “The US is a reliable supplier of LNG and is ready to assist in meeting India’s increasing energy needs in the coming years.”
Gore praised the latest cover of India Today magazine featuring President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, noting that it has caught the attention of the White House. He shared, “I took a photo of the cover and sent it to President Trump, who posted it on Truth Social.”
