Jaipur, February 21: Rajasthan MLA Bal Mukund Acharya has expressed serious concern over the increasing negative impact of mobile gaming on children. He has called for immediate measures to control its harmful effects.

Speaking to the media during the fifth session of the 16th Rajasthan Assembly, Acharya stated that while technology has made life easier, it has also brought about several adverse consequences, especially for children.

“In today’s modern age, technology simplifies life, but it also presents serious challenges. Children are increasingly drawn to violent games on mobile phones and televisions. This is a matter of deep concern,” he remarked.

Acharya noted that children once developed their personalities and imagination through comics, inspirational stories, and informative books. However, the rise of digital entertainment has altered these habits.

“Mobile games have replaced books and traditional learning sources. Unfortunately, many of these games promote violence, negatively impacting children’s mental development,” he added.

The MLA highlighted that excessive gaming is affecting children’s education and mental health. He cited instances where children become so engrossed in games that they begin to identify with virtual characters.

Bal Mukund warned, “Such addiction not only harms their studies but also exposes them to risks like online fraud, financial transactions, and other dangerous situations.”

Describing the issue as a serious psychological threat, Acharya stated that uncontrolled exposure to violent digital content could act as a ‘mental virus’ for the younger generation.

He further emphasized, “This trend could damage children’s ability to think critically, make decisions, and achieve overall educational development in the long run.”

Acharya urged parents, teachers, and policymakers to take proactive steps to monitor children’s digital activities and promote healthy alternatives such as reading, sports, and creative education.
