Ranchi, April 7: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) celebrated its 47th Foundation Day on April 6, 2026, with various events across Jharkhand, including Ranchi. Leaders and party workers raised flags at their homes and party offices throughout the state.
Addressing the main event at the party’s state headquarters in Ranchi, State President Aditya Sahu emphasized that the BJP is a worker and ideology-based party. He noted that the party’s current success is a result of the dedication and hard work of millions of its members. Sahu recalled that in 1984, when the party secured only two seats, Congress mocked it. Today, he stated, the world laughs at Congress’s current situation.
He accused Congress of engaging in self-serving politics, while asserting that the BJP prioritizes national interest. Sahu highlighted the continuous struggle and dedication of the Janata Sangh and BJP since 1951. Under the leadership of figures like Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the party has been working towards realizing the goal of ‘Antyodaya’ and striving for a self-reliant India.
Leader of the Opposition Babulal Marandi remarked that the BJP operates for the country and society. He described the journey from Janata Sangh to BJP as inspirational, attributing the party’s achievements to its dedicated workers. Marandi referenced historic decisions made during the Vajpayee and Modi administrations, such as the nuclear tests and the construction of the Ram Temple, as significant steps taken for the nation’s benefit.
Organizational General Secretary Karmveer Singh stated that the journey from the Janata Sangh initiated by Syama Prasad Mukherjee and Deendayal Upadhyay to the present BJP exemplifies the strength of the organization. The event commenced with floral tributes to the statues of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay and Syama Prasad Mukherjee, followed by the singing of ‘Vande Mataram.’ Leaders on stage were honored with shawls, and the program was conducted by State Media Co-Incharge Yogendra Pratap Singh.
Former State President Yadunath Pandey, senior leader Suryamani Singh, and Madhu Sahu, among others, also shared their thoughts during the event. The program saw the presence of state vice presidents, ministers, spokespersons, and a large number of party workers. On this Foundation Day, party leaders and workers raised the party flag at their homes and offices across the state.
State President Aditya Sahu raised the flag at his residence, while Leader of the Opposition Babulal Marandi did so at his home. Regional Organization General Secretary Nagendra Nath Tripathi raised the flag at the Deoghar district office. Former Chief Minister Raghubar Das raised the flag in Jamshedpur, Arjun Munda in Ghodbanda (Jamshedpur), and Madhu Koda at his residence in Chaibasa.
